Gerindra Targets DKI Deputy Governor Chairs Filled Before Upcoming Presidential Election

Suara Id. Deputy Chairperson of DKI Jakarta Gerindra DPD Syarif said the process of filling in the seat of the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta would not be possible to be completed this year. He said Gerindra made a new target, namely before the voting for the 2019 presidential election.

"From Gerindra DKI you want it before the presidential election has finished, before March, yes," Syarif said when contacted by reporters on Monday (17/12).

Nevertheless, said Syarif, the issue of filling the governor's seat was also related to the dynamics or subsequent developments.

The fit and proper test for prospective vice governors has not yet been implemented. In fact, the meeting to discuss how the technical process of the fit and proper test was also not done by Gerindra and PKS.

Syarif said that until now the DKI PKS DPW had not yet informed about the planned meeting to continue the fit and proper test team.

The DKI PKS DPW had invited the DKI Gerindra Regional Representative Council to hold a meeting on December 4 to discuss the fit and proper test team and procedures for filling the governor's seat. However, the meeting was canceled because Gerindra had a technical guidance agenda (bimtek) in Semarang.

Syarif said DPD Gerindra DKI will take the initiative to invite PKS so that the process of filling DKI 2 seats can be completed soon.

"The plan is that we want to write tomorrow to PKS, maybe we should take the initiative again, yes," he said.

In addition to sending an invitation letter to the meeting, DKI Gerindra DPD will also send a decree (SK) regarding the names of members of the fit and proper test team.

DKI DPD Gerindra is known to have appointed Deputy Chairperson of DKI Gerindra DPD Syarif and LIPI researcher Siti Zuhro to become members of the team. Whereas the PKS camp has appointed Jakarta PKS DPW Chairperson Syakir Purnomo and Chairman of the Jakarta DPRD PKS Faction Abdurahman Suhaimi.

"If we already have a decree, we just need to combine and then start discussing in more detail the framework of the work with the timeline," said Syarif.

Previously, the PKS and Gerindra as the bearer party agreed to hand over the vice chair of the PKS.

In choosing the candidate for vice governor, the two parties also agreed on the process of the fit and proper test that must be passed before the nominees for the candidate will be submitted to the DPRD. However, until now the due diligence process has not been implemented.
